Crowns are fixed dental prosthesis which completely caps or encircle, a tooth, dental implant or by post & core to mostly damaged tooth but with firm roots. They are typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement. Crowns are often used to reinforce the strength of a tooth, or improve its appearance. Crowns are made of different materials like, porcelain, white metal, Gold alloy, a mixture of these, or zirconium etc. and the color shades are decided by matching with a shade guide with your own natural teeth. Non vital tooth due to old trauma or as a result of root canal therapy invariably needs Crowns. Crowns, provide good smile and functional chewing, reinforce damaged non vital tooth, and replace the entire missing tooth with post & core. The life of a dental crown is from 10 to 15 years. If at some time the Crown become loose or comes out it can be again cemented and re- fixed provided the crown and your own tooth are not damaged.

How long it takes for dental crown to fit:- The expert doctors at laungia dental hospital will decide about your visits. If the damaged tooth needs Root Canal therapy, then the time taken & visits are more. Otherwise where no RCT is required, or RCT is already done, minimum two visits are needed. In first visit the damaged tooth is prepared by shaping it, its impression is taken for ordering the right & specific crown with right shade from the lab, and then covered with temporary material. In the second visit the temporary material is removed and proper & snug fitting of the crown to the tooth is checked. Finally the crown is cemented into the place giving a natural beautiful look with functional chewing.

» Bridges

Presence of all of the teeth are important for, speaking, chewing, keeping the other teeth aligned and well apposed to each other. The loss of teeth could be accidental or due to disease. Dental Bridge is a device used to replace the missing teeth, and the replaced teeth remain fixed in the mouth. The artificial teeth in a bridge are fixed by support of adjacent natural teeth, called the abutment teeth.

The Prosthodontics experts at laungia dental hospital need your minimum two visits to fix a bridge. In the first visit the natural teeth (abutment), on two ends of the missing teeth, are prepared by shaping them, to receive the two ends of the bridge for support. An impression is taken & shade is noted with shade guide, to prepare a cast model, to order for exact fitting bridge for you, with the kind of material & shade of your need. Then temporary caps are covered on these prepared teeth. The material used can be either pure porcelain or white metal or the mixture of two, it could be Zirconium and the color shades required are found by matching with a shade guide and your natural teeth. In the next visit the temporary caps are removed and after checking the supporting end caps of the bridge are cemented and fixed over the abutments. The life of bridges is normally 10 to 15 years. If at some time the bridge comes out of the abutment teeth or become loose it can be again cemented and fixed.
